MOB Hockey captured the 2013 Major Championship with a 5-4 overtime win over South Sask Academy at Mundare Arena. MOB opened the scoring in the first period on a goal from Ryker Philpott, assisted by Jabriel Sharma and Adam McMillan, before South Sask answered through Kipton Tremblay from Kyson Soyka and Oliver Anderson to send the game to the second tied 1-1. The teams traded goals again in the middle frame, with South Sask’s Avery Drake scoring before McMillan responded for MOB from Liam Rodriguez to make it 2-2 heading into the third.
The third period saw MOB pull ahead with goals from Brodyn King and Rodriguez, both factoring alongside Philpott in a multi-point night, while Soyka and Kelton Cross replied for South Sask to force overtime at 4-4. In the extra frame, Mason Macdonnell played hero, scoring the championship winner at 3:01 of overtime to secure the 5-4 victory and the 2013 Major title for MOB Hockey.
