Sauce Hockey Academy captured the 2013 AAA Championship with a 2-0 shutout win over Aces Hockey Academy on Sunday, March 15, at 9:30 AM.
Sauce struck first in the opening period when Thomas Jones scored at 7:01, assisted by Levi Pomeroy and Nash Hansen, to take a 1-0 lead.
In the second period, Keaton Skinner added the insurance goal at 1:21 on feeds from Kase Lindberg and Crosby Thomas, extending the advantage to 2-0; Aces were unable to respond despite power play chances.
The third period saw no further scoring, with Sauce goalie Bennett Tice preserving the shutout by stopping all 25 shots faced for a perfect 1.000 save percentage.
Sauce outshot Aces 41-25 overall, dominating with 12-12 in the first, 14-8 in the second, and 15-5 in the third.
